OLONGAPO CITY––A 46-year-old man became the lone COVID-19 case in the city that obtained a virus-free status on Christmas Day.

The local COVID-19 task force said the patient from Barangay Sta. Rita had been vaccinated against the viral disease and did not manifest symptoms.

So far, the city has registered 5,459 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic struck last year. It logged a 94-percent recovery rate, with 5,141 patients cleared of the disease.

The city’s COVID-19 death toll still stood at 317, with no new fatalities in recent days.

Healthcare workers continued to administer vaccines against COVID-19 as the city tried to attain herd immunity, targeting 182,000 of its 260,000-population. INQ
