MANILA, Philippines — The northeast monsoon or “amihan”, shear line, and intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will bring rain in several parts of the country on Tuesday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

“Ngayong araw ng Martes, asahan ang pag-ulan sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng bansa dulot ng iba’t ibang weather systems,” Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja said.

Pagasa said the shear line, or the area where the winds from the northeast monsoon and winds coming from the Pacific Ocean meet, will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Caraga region, Northern Mindanao, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Aklan, and Capiz.

Meanwhile, the ITCZ, or where winds coming from the northern and southern hemispheres converge, will bring overcast skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Palawan and the rest of Mindanao.

“Sa natitirang bahagi ng Luzon, patuloy pa rin ang malakas na epekto ng amihan o northeast monsoon. Ito ay nagdadala ng ulan sa hilaga at timog na parte ng Luzon. Asahan pa rin po ang mababang temperatura,” Estareja said.

Pagasa said the northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with light rains in Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Aurora, Quezon, and the rest of Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) and Bicol regions.

The weather system will likewise cause partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.
