MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte’s signing of the 2022 national budget has been postponed, Senate President Vicente Sotto III said Monday.
Duterte was set to sign the P5.024-trillion budget for the next year on Dec. 28, Sotto earlier said.
“Postpone daw ang signing [The signing has been postponed],” the Senate leader told reporters in a message.
Asked if there was a reason given by Malacañang for the postponement, Sotto said: “None.”
“Will inform daw of new date [They will inform us of the new date],” he added.
Congress ratified on December 15 the report containing the reconciled version of the 2022 national budget agreed upon by the House of Representatives and the Senate through a bicameral conference committee.
