MANILA, Philippines – Traffic was heavy and slow on the northbound side of the South Luzon Expressway Tuesday as buses and other vehicles chartered by members of the Iglesia ni Cristo religious sect headed for an “evangelical mission” at Manila’s Rizal Park, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said.
MMDA Metrobase radio operator Alvin Pescador said that their monitors at the Nichols interchange showed moderate to heavy traffic on the northbound section of SLEX. On the opposite side, traffic was light, he said in a telephone interview.
Traffic on the North Luzon Expressway, on the other hand, eased around noon, after hours of moderate to heavy traffic due to a vehicular accident early Tuesday morning, he said.
The MMDA also monitored stranded passengers on Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City and in Alabang, Muntinlupa.
