2 new COVID cases in PNP push active count to 14

MANILA, Philippines — Two days after not recording a single new COVID-19 infection, the Philippine National Police (PNP) registered two new cases as of Saturday, pushing the active case count back to 14.

According to the PNP’s Public Information Office, the total confirmed COVID-19 cases within the police force is  now at 42,248.

One PNP personnel recovered from the disease, for a total recovery count of 42,109.  Also, no new deaths within the organization have been recorded since November 10, which means the death toll is still at 125.

Despite the COVID-19 Omicron variant being detected in the country, infections have seen a decrease since the surge from August to September ended.  According to the Department of Health numbers on Friday, 310 new infections brought the active case count to 9,321.

Recoveries meanwhile are at 227, for a total recovery count of 2,777,661.  Another 69 deaths however push the death toll to 51,050.
