Mandaue police rescue teen girl

Mandaue police rescued a 16-year-old girl who was allegedly abducted and raped by her ex-boyfriend.

The girl was rescued yesterday afternoon from the house of the grandparents of suspect Richard Sumampong, 19, in barangay Magsiko, San Fernando town, southern Cebu.

Sumampong was arrested in the operation and will be charged with abduction and three counts of rape, said police.

Police said the girl and Sumampong broke up recently.

On Sunday night, the teenager met the girl in an establishment in Mandaue where the girl worked.

Police said the man poked a bladed weapon at the girl and forced her to go with him to San Fernando.

At the house of the man’s grandparents, the girl said Sumampong raped her and locked her inside a room.

In an interview, Sumampong said he was upset at the girl for breaking up with him for another man./REPORTER JUCELL MARIE P. CUYOS
