MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines received Thursday 1,543,230 doses of the Pfizer-made COVID-19 vaccine that were bought by the national government through a loan from the Asian Development Bank.
The National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19 said the more than 1.5 million Pfizer vaccine doses were delivered to the Philippines via Emirates flight EK334, which arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 at 4:55 a.m.
According to the NTF, another 1.1 million Pfizer anti-COVID shots are expected to arrive Thursday evening to complete the government’s procurement of 2.7 million doses.
As of December 21, the Philippines received a total of 192,344,945 various COVID-19 vaccines. Of these, 102,988,677 were already administered to qualified recipients, data from the Department of Health showed.
To date, the government said, 45.2 million people in the country are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
