MANILA, Philippines — The entire Mindanao is expected to have cloudy skies with chances of rain on Thursday despite the change of projections in the entry of the low pressure area near the island, the state weather bureau reported Wednesday.
It is the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) that will bring cloudy skies with chances of scattered rain showers and thunderstorms and not the LPA, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country, on the other hand, will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms, the government weather service added.
Pagasa did not raise any gale warning in any of the seaboards nationwide.
Meanwhile, the LPA off Pacific Ocean is currently 1,870 kilometers east of Mindanao, and is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) after Christmas day, according to Pagasa’s latest projection.
Based on the new projection, the LPA, which now has a 60 to 70 percent chance of turning into a tropical cyclone, will enter PAR on December 26 or 27 and will be closest to the landmass of Mindanao on the evening of December 29 or early December 30.
