CEBU CITY––To prevent hoarding and reselling in the black market, Cebu will allow the sale of fuel only if loaded into the tank of a vehicle.
The new policy will be effective in Cebu City and Cebu province after a meeting of Gov. Gwen Garcia and Mayor Michael Rama on Tuesday.
Long lines have been observed at the gas stations across Cebu after Typhoon “Odette.” Some even have to stay overnight to catch the opening of the gas station the next day. Some also stayed more than four hours in line to refuel.
Those who will refuel generator sets exempted from this policy, but buyers have to show proof of their need to fill containers for gensets, like photos or other documents.
Only a maximum of 200 liters will be allowed for commercial gensets, and 10 liters for residential gensets.
Garcia and Rama will issue a memorandum on this new policy.
