KABANKALAN CITY, Negros Occidental––Actress Kris Aquino joined Vice President Leni Robredo in delivering assistance Tuesday to Typhoon “Odette” survivors in southern Negros Occidental.
Aquino said she had planned to join Robredo in her campaign in January for the presidency, but when she learned that the vice president was going to Negros, she decided to join her.
Aquino delivered truckloads of food packs to evacuees in Himamaylan and Kabankalan cities, which Robredo visited. She was also set to deliver food assistance to Hinigaran, where the babysitter of her son Josh hails.
“The country needs to get back on its feet, and it is Leni that I trust to work hard and take care of every Filipino,” Aquino told the crowd of survivors.
Aquino said actress Angel Locsin was also providing P2 million assistance to the survivors.
Robredo said she was leaving a team behind to assess further and address the needs of the evacuees as her assistance would be continuing.
Robredo was accompanied by Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, who told the crowd to remember the official who brought them help and cared. “If this is our leader, we will have hope,” he said.
