Infant dies of COVID-19 in Tarlac; 8 new cases logged

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga – A three-month-old boy has died due to COVID-19 complications in Tarlac as the provincial government registered eight new cases on Tuesday, Dec. 21.

In its latest bulletin, the Tarlac COVID-19 Task Force said the fatality was from Capas town. He was swabbed on Dec. 18 and the positive result came out on the same day.

The infant manifested mild symptoms and was placed under quarantine. It was not immediately known if the infant was transferred to the hospital.

On Tuesday, the provincial government also registered eight new COVID-19 cases – three in Victoria town, two in Concepcion, and one each in Gerona, Mayantoc and Tarlac City.

The province also logged seven new recoveries. Its active cases stood at 44.

Tarlac City and Gerona town have the most active cases at seven each, followed by Concepcion and Victoria towns with six each, and Capas with four.

Since the pandemic started last year, Tarlac has registered a total of 18,996 COVID-19 cases of which 18,114 had recovered while 838 had died.
