MANILA, Philippines — Supporters of Vice President Leni Robredo have organized a pink-themed lantern parade within the grounds of her alma mater University of the Philippines-Diliman to show their support for her presidential bid.
A number of pink-clad students, officials, and staff of UP Diliman — with some carrying a pink parol — joined the People’s Lantern Parade on Tuesday afternoon.
The parade, which lasted until six in the evening, began at the UP College of Social Work and Community Development (along Magsaysay Ave.) until the University Ave, according to Dimpy Jazmines, one of the attendees.
Dean of the UP-Diliman College of Social Work and Community Development Sylvia Estrada-Claudio, who also attended the event, called the parade “small but historic.”
“Masaya ang martsa. Lively with people shouting, ‘mas radikal, magmahal’,” Estrada-Claudio said in a Facebook post.
“Very proud of my young colleagues and very proud of my College,” she added.
