CITY OF CALAPAN — A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck Occidental Mindoro province on Tuesday noon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The Phivolcs said the quake occurred at 12:08 p.m., 15 kilometers northeast of Sablayan town. It had a depth of 15 kilometers. Damage and aftershocks were expected.
Initial assessment of Phivolcs indicated that the temblor was 4.8-magnitude and hit 10 kilometers northeast of Sablayan.
No damage was reported, however, as of this writing.

- Intensity II – Roxas, Oriental Mindoro; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Batangas City
- Intensity I – Tagaytay City, Cavite; Mulanay, Mauban, Gumaca and Dolores, Quezon
The Phivolcs said Tuesday noon’s earthquake was an aftershock of the 5.3-magnitude quake in Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro, last October 3.
