ANGELES CITY––The city government has initiated a fund drive for victims of Typhoon “Odette” and asked residents to donate cash, food, water, and clothes that could be dropped off until Wednesday, Dec. 22, at the city hall.

In its social media post Monday evening, the city government said it is accepting cash donations, canned goods, rice, instant noodles, bottled water, and decent garments. It said face masks, hygiene kits, beddings, milk, and diapers would also be accepted.

The city government had also allotted P500,000 from its calamity fund to buy relief packs. Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr., his chief adviser Irish Calaguas and executive assistant Reina Manuel donated P100,000 for residents of Visayas and Mindanao towns battered by Odette on Dec. 16. The storm left more than 260 fatalities.

Also on Monday night, the Central Luzon police sent three trucks carrying about 1,000 relief items to Cebu for victims of Odette there.

In a statement, Brig. Gen. Matthew Baccay, Central Luzon police director, said: “The Central Luzon cops, together with our stakeholders, recognize the crucial need of assisting our ‘kababayans’ who greatly suffered from severe flooding brought about by the typhoon. This is the best time to extend our help, and our provision of services to needy communities is expected.”
