3.3 million more donated COVID-19 vaccine doses arrive from US, France

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines on Tuesday morning received 3.3 million COVID-19 vaccine doses donated by the United States (US) and France.

The US and French government gave 1,623,960 doses of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine and 1,697,000 doses of AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine, respectively.

The donations were coursed through the Covax Facility, the National Task Force Against COVID-19 said.

The 3.3 million doses were transported via Emirates flight EK334 which landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 around 6 a.m. Tuesday.

On Monday, the US government sent 1.7 million COVID-19 vaccine doses. With the recent delivery, the American donation of 3.4 million shots is completed.

As of December 20, the Philippines got a total of 187,165,885 COVID-19 vaccines since deliveries began in February.

The government has so far administered 100,907,667 vaccine doses and fully immunized 43.5 million individuals against COVID-19 as of December 19.
