Cleanergy school tour kicks off

STUDENTS and teachers of San Pablo National High School in San Pablo, Laguna experienced the benefits of AboitizPower’s Cleanergy renewable energy program during the program’s launching.

The program will be rolled out to schools in areas nationwide where AboitizPower operates. It aims to educate the students and teachers about environment preservation.

During the launching, students enjoyed doing interactive games, using eco-friendly gadgets and equipment, including an energy bike charging station that allows students to charge their mobile phones by pedaling a stationary bike — a comprehensive educational module that will help achieve the program’s objective.

“Through the Cleanergy School Tour, we empower the youth and equip them with the knowledge and tools to make more responsible everyday choices that will help take care of the environment,” AboitizPower and chief executive officer Erramon Aboitiz said.

The response of the participants was inspiring.

At the end of the tour, students and teachers made their commitments towards a better and cleaner environment. “I pledge to encourage my students to do things to save the earth. I will also make them aware of the things that I’ve learned from AboitizPower,” said schoolteacher Crisee Brotonel.

“From now on, I will try my best to make this world better,” student Jerome Maloles’ pledged.

The Cleanergy School Tour series is also an avenue to promote Alter Space, the first Filipino online application on Facebook, where players would learn how to make sensible, practical choices in their daily lives — all of which help reduce the effects of global warming and climate change and decrease carbon footprint levels.
