Journalist-filmmaker Arlyn dela Cruz dies due to colon cancer
MANILA, Philippines — Journalist-filmmaker Arlyn dela Cruz passed away due to colon cancer, her daughters confirmed on Monday.

“Earlier today, our mother passed away after six years of battling colon cancer,” her daughters Katrina Greta and Dominique said in a Facebook post.
“During those years, she has produced, written and directed several films, had two art exhibits and continued her relentless pursuit for the truth,” they added.
According to her daughters, dela Cruz’s colon cancer was not a hindrance to enjoying life.

In June 2019, dela Cruz suffered a stroke.

Dela Cruz was the director of the award-winning Maratabat, a film that depicts the clash of political clans in Mindanao.

She is also known for her films Tibak and Immaculada, A Mother’s Love.
