SUBIC BAY FREEPORT––The Subic Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) deployed on Sunday, Dec. 19, a team from its fire department to help in clearing operations on Siargao Island, which was damaged badly by Typhoon “Odette.”

Wilma Eisma, SBMA chair and administrator, said the team was composed of 11 personnel from its fire department.

“Let us pray for the recovery of the people there and the safe travel of our personnel to the area,” said Eisma in a statement.

Earlier, Eisma said the SBMA would send donations and manpower to the typhoon-stricken areas, adding that it would continue to accept donations through its public relations department.

“We knock on the kind and compassionate hearts of Subic Bay Freeport stakeholders to aid our brothers and sisters in Visayas and Mindanao who are gravely affected by Typhoon Odette,” Eisma said.

She said the typhoon victims would need sleeping mats, hygiene kits, easy-open canned goods, mosquito nets, preloved clothes, and mineral water.
