David bags PBA Player of the Week award

07:37 AM February 28, 2012

GARY DAVID just keeps on humming along in spite of the turmoil surrounding the Powerade Tigers and its ownership issues as he continued his hot scoring streak en route to being awarded the Player of the Week honors for the period Feb. 20 to 26 in the ongoing PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

The league’s two-time scoring champion scored 29 points as he led the Tigers to a 94-82 come-from-behind win over the Meralco Bolts last Sunday. The citation is David’s first in this conference and fifth this season.

David is coming off a magical run in the previous Philippine Cup, where he silenced all his doubters and led Powerade to the finals before falling to eventual champions Talk ‘N Text. He picked up where he left off in this conference as he scored 32 points in leading the squad to a 122-120 win over Rain or Shine several weeks ago.

Another impressive feat that David is currently achieving is his run of 16 straight games where he has scored 24 points or more. However, the Bataan native remains humble and has his eyes on the prize in spite of all the accolades that is coming his way./Correspondent Jonas Panerio with  PBA Media Bureau
