‘Devastation everywhere’: Robredo visits Odette-battered Cebu

MANILA, Philippines — “Devastation everywhere,” Vice President Leni Robredo said in a Twitter post on Saturday to describe what she saw on her visit to part of Cebu province in the aftermath of Typhoon Odette.
“The ferocity of Typhoon Odette was very evident everywhere. So much destruction in both small and big structures,” she added in a Facebook post.
The vice president visited two barangays — Guadalupe and Sapangdaku. In Guadalupe, she noted that 800 houses were “totally destroyed.”
Robredo also noted that the traffic in the province was bad since roads were still being cleared of electric lines and posts that the typhoon toppled down. There were also long lines at gas and water refilling stations.
“We were supposed to visit other places outside the city, but the traffic was really bad and there were still many posts blocking the way,” Robredo said in Filipino.

Article continues after this advertisementOdette made landfall in the vicinity of Carcar, Cebu, and most parts of Cebu were placed under Signal No. 4.
It has left 16 dead in the Cebu province, according to a report of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
After leaving a trail of destruction in many parts of theVisayas and Mindanao, the typhoon left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at noon on Saturday.
