13 Pampanga towns now COVID-free
MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga – Thirteen of Pampanga’s 21 localities now have zero active COVID-19 cases, the provincial epidemiology and surveillance unit announced on Friday, December 17.
It said the municipalities of Sta. Rita, Mexico, and Sta. Ana have joined 10 other towns which were recently declared as COVID-free.
The towns previously declared as COVID-freewere Magalang, Floridablanca, Porac, Sasmuan, Bacolor, Apalit, Candaba, Macabebe, Masantol, and Santo Tomas.
San Luis town was free of COVID-19 until it recorded a single new case on December 7.
The other towns with a single active case include Lubao, Minalin and San Simon.
Article continues after this advertisementAs of December 16, Guagua has the most active cases with eight, followed by Mabalacat City and the City of San Fernando with three each, and Arayat town with two.
Article continues after this advertisementPampanga recorded zero new cases, a single recovery and one death on the same date. The lone fatality was a resident of Porac town.
The province has recorded a total of 46,580 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic broke out last year. Of these, 44,077 have recovered, and 2,483 have died.
There are still 20 active cases.
Angeles City, a highly urbanized locality which is politically independent of Pampanga, registered zero new cases, a single recovery, and no deaths on Friday.
Its active cases stood at seven.
Since the pandemic broke out, the city has registered a total of 12,550 cases, of which 12,024 have recovered while 519 died.
