PH logs 74 new COVID-19 deaths — DOH

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday reported 74 new COVID-19 deaths to bring the total number of mortalities to 50,570.

The DOH noted that of the 74 deaths, nine were recorded in December (12 percent), 11 in November (15 percent), 23 in October (31 percent), 18 in September (24 percent), 11 in August (15 percent), one in July (1 percent, and one in February (1 percent).

The Health Department said this is due to the late encoding of health information to COVIDKaya or the platform which stores data of all COVID-19 cases.

The total number of deaths is 1.78 percent of all the cases.

The current caseload is now at 2,837,464 cases after 582 new COVID-19 cases were reported.

Of the total number of cases, only 10,167 or 0.4 percent are tagged as ‘active cases,’ many of which or only 44.8 percent have mild or asymptomatic cases.

The total number of recoveries is now at 2,776,727 or 97.9 percent of all cases after 494 new cases were reported.

Meanwhile, the global COVID-19 caseload is now at 272.9 million, including 5.3 million deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University Case Tracker.
