Lucena City records only 7 COVID-19 cases in December
LUCENA CITY––This capital city of Quezon province has seven active COVID-19 cases as of Dec. 16, a big drop from the triple-digit infections it logged two months ago, the city public information office (PIO) announced on social media.
Quezon itself recorded one new COVID-19 case on Thursday in Sariaya town.
Citing the latest report from the City Health Office, the PIO disclosed that seven cases were logged from Dec. 1 to 16.
In November, the CHO recorded 38 COVID-19 cases, a decline from 627 in October and 880 in September.
On March 7, the city also brought down the number of active virus carriers to seven. But due to the public’s lax enforcement of safety protocols and the high transmission rate of the Delta variant, the single-day tally peaked at 572 cases on Oct. 13.
Lucena recorded 5,575 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic struck in March last year, with 5,345 recoveries and 223 fatalities.
