CEBU CITY––A radio blocktimer, who strings for a national broadsheet, was shot at past noon on Dec. 16 by a still-unidentified assailant inside a public utility vehicle at M.J. Cuenco Avenue in downtown Cebu City.
Rico Osmeña was on board a modernized public utility jeepney when the lone gunman boarded the vehicle and shot him, said Major Edgar Labe, chief of the Waterfront Police Station.
A stray bullet hit a female passenger.
Osmeña and the other passenger, whose identity has yet to be revealed by the police, were rushed to the hospital.
Physicians had yet to disclose the condition of the two victims.
Osmeña just came from radio station dyLA where he hosts a program titled “Karon Sugbo.”
Days before he was shot, Osmeña announced during his program that he received threats from someone he did not identify.
He said he had reported the matter to the National Bureau of Investigation.
Osmeña was also a correspondent of the Daily Tribune.
The police were investigating the incident to determine the identity of the assailant and the motive behind the crime.
