MANILA, Philippines — The two travelers from Burkina Faso and Egypt who recently arrived in the Philippines and tested positive for COVID-19 were not infected with the Omicron variant, the Department of Health (DOH) said Thursday.

The two travelers were among those who arrived in the country from November 15-29 and tested positive for the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which causes COVID-19. The DOH earlier announced that the traveler from South Africa who also arrived during the said period has tested positive for the B.1.1.203 virus variant, which is not a variant of concern or interest.
