With the continuing decline in new COVID-19 cases, the province was under the less stringent Alert Level 2 until the end of the year.

Active COVID-19 cases in the province have also significantly dropped to 32 as of Wednesday, Dec. 15, from the highest single-day tally of 2,570 on Sept. 21.

The IPHO reported that 29 of the 41 local governments in the province no longer have infected individuals as of Dec. 15.

The latest data showed five towns (Unisan, Pagbilao, Buenavista, Atimonan, and Candelaria) with one remaining infection each; four localities (Guinayangan, Lopez, Mauban, and San Antonio) with two each; and Tayabas City and Polillo with four each.

Lucena City, Quezon’s capital, topped the list with still 11 active virus carriers, a huge drop from 572 recorded on Oct. 13.

The COVID-19 death toll in Quezon now stands at 1,478, with Lucena recording the most at 223.
