Lacson not yet off the hook–SC

Not so fast.

Sen. Panfilo Lacson, who won a reprieve both from the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court, is not yet off the hook regarding his alleged involvement in the Dacer-Corbito double murder case, the high court said on Wednesday.

Midas Marquez, Supreme Court spokesperson and administrator, said the court’s ruling throwing out the petition of slain public relations expert Salvador “Bubby” Dacer’s children seeking to restore the arrest warrant against Lacson for the death of their father, was merely due to technicality.

“It (ruling) did not discuss the substance because the petition was denied on its procedural aspect. So there’s no need to delve into the substance,” Marquez explained.

He said state prosecutors may still file a new criminal case against Lacson if the prosecution could present a new set of evidence.
