Zero COVID case recorded in 3 major Cebu cities
CEBU CITY—No new COVID cases has been recorded in the three major cities of Cebu, bringing down the number of infections in the province.
For two straight days—Dec. 12 and 13—the Department of Health (DOH) in Central Visayas recorded zero new infections in Cebu City and Mandaue City. Lapulapu City had just one case on Dec. 12 and zero on Dec. 13.
As of Dec. 13 Cebu City had only 76 active COVID cases. Mandaue and Lapulapu both have 12 active cases each.
Cebu province recorded three new cases on Dec. 13, bringing its active infections to only 184 compared to over 5,000 cases in July and August.
But Councilor Joel Garganera, Cebu City emergency operations deputy chief, said the downward trend in cases should not lull residents into complacency.
“It is a good day for Cebu City, (but) again complacency is our number one enemy,” Garganera said.
