MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Education (DepEd) on Tuesday reminded its officials, teaching and non-teaching personnel against engaging in electioneering and political activities amid the 2022 national and local elections.
In a statement, DepEd said that this is in accordance with existing rules and regulations of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) and the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
“Government officials and employees are prohibited from engaging in any electioneering and partisan political activity to ensure civil servants are focused on public service,” the DepEd said.
DepEd added that the list of prohibited acts and excluded activities are further enumerated in the DepEd Order (DO) No. 48, series of 2018 or the Prohibition on Electioneering and Partisan Political Activity.
“Guided by these policies, we call on our personnel and stakeholders to champion a clean, safe, and fair elections in 2022, for our children and for the future of this nation,” the DepEd said.
