NCR’s 7-day COVID-19 average cases drop to less than 100 – Octa Research

MANILA, Philippines — The National Capital Region’s (NCR) seven-day average of COVID-19 cases dropped to less than 100 since late March 2020, independent pandemic monitor Octa Research reported on Monday.

Octa Research fellow Dr. Guido David said that NCR’s COVID-19 cases averaged to 91 per day as of December 6 to 12. This is lower than December 1 to 7’s average of 105 cases per day.

“The 7-day average in the NCR decreased to less than 100 for the first time since March 22 to 28, 2020,” David said on Twitter.

“The NCR averaged just 91 new COVID-19 cases per day as of December 6 to 12. The incidence or ADAR (average daily attack rate) decreased to less than 1, at 0.64 per day per 100k, while the reproduction number was very low at 0.39. The test positivity rate was just 0.9%,” the group said.

Last week, Metro Manila’s ADAR was 0.74 per day per 100,000; reproduction rate was 0.34; and positivity rate was one percent.

Metro Manila remained at very low risk for COVID-19.

Twelve cities and one municipality in Metro Manila are classified by Octa as “very low risk” for the coronavirus while four others are at “low risk”.

Under the “very low risk” classification are the cities of  Caloocan, Las Piñas, Mandaluyong, Parañaque, Marikina, Pasig, Navotas, Valenzuela, San Juan, Manila, Pasay, Taguig and the municipality of Pateros.

Meanwhile, Muntinlupa, Quezon City, Malabon, and Makati are at low risk for COVID-19.
