Rainy weather to prevail over Eastern Luzon, Visayas on Monday — Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — The shear line and the northeast monsoon, locally known as the “amihan,” will bring overcast skies and rain in the eastern sections of Luzon and Visayas on Monday, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Sunday.

“Inaasahan pa rin ang epekto ng amihan at shear line, kaya magiging maulap na may mga pag-ulan at mga pulo-pulong pagkidlat at pagkulog dito sa eastern section ng Luzon,” said Pagasa senior weather specialist Chris Perez.

(The northeast monsoon and shear line is still expected to bring clouds with rains and islands of lightning and thunder in the eastern section of Luzon.)

“Sa Metro Manila at dito naman sa natitirang bahagi ng Luzon, particular na sa mga lalawigan sa western section generally maaliwalas ang panahon maliban na lang sa pulo pulong mahinang pagulan,” he added.

(In Metro Manila and here in the rest of Luzon, particularly in the provinces in the western section, the weather is generally clear except scattered light rains.)

Eastern Visayas will also experience cloudy weather with chances, according to Perez, but generally fair weather will prevail over the rest of Visayas as well as the entire Mindanao.

Short rain showers, however, should still be expected even in these areas due to localized thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the tropical depression currently being monitored outside Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), was last spotted 1,955 kilometers east of Mindanao.

It currently has no direct effects on the country, but is expected to enter PAR on Tuesday, making landfall by Wednesday evening or Thursday morning in the Visayas area.

Temperature range in key cities/areas according to Pagasa for Friday:

Metro Manila: 23 to 31 degrees Celsius

Baguio City: 13 to 23 degrees Celsius

Laoag City:  21 to 32 degrees Celsius

Tuguegarao: 21 to 26 degrees Celsius

Cagayan De Oro City: 25 to 31 degrees Celsius

The rest of the country’s oceans and in-land seas, meanwhile, will experience moderate sea conditions.
