MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday reported 402 fresh cases of COVID-19, with 509 more recoveries bringing down the number of active cases to 11,255.
This latest caseload marks the 19th consecutive day the country recorded less than 1,000 COVID-19 cases per day. According to the DOH, 95 percent or 380 of the 402 cases were recorded within the recent 14 days.
With these numbers, the total confirmed COVID-19 cases are now at 2,836,592 while recoveries are at 2,775,057.
The positivity rate meanwhile is at 1.2 percent out of the 36,799 tests conducted.
Of the 11,255 individuals still infected with the virus, there are 4,334 individuals with mild cases and 876 who are asymptomatic. There are also 3,683 moderate cases; 1,961 severe cases; and 401 critical cases.
The DOH also recorded 184 new deaths, raising the death toll to 50,280.
Meanwhile, the DOH said four laboratories were not operational, while three laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System for tests conducted on Dec. 10.
These seven laboratories contribute, on average, 0.5 percent of samples tested and 0.1 percent of positive individuals.
The health agency also said that 6 duplicates were removed from the total case count — of which 6 were recoveries.
“In addition, 164 cases were found to have tested negative and have been removed from the total case count. Of these, 159 are recoveries,” said the DOH.
“Moreover, 178 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” it added.
