MANILA, Philippines — The low pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) may intensify into a tropical cyclone within 24 hours and make landfall in Eastern Visayas or the Caraga region in Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Sunday.
As of 3 a.m., the LPA was approximately 2,140 kilometers east of Mindanao. Pagasa said it is likely to enter PAR on Tuesday and will be named Odette once it enters Philippine territory.

Meanwhile, Pagasa said that the northeast monsoon continues to affect Northern and Central Luzon while the shear line, or the convergence of cold and warm winds, affects the eastern section of Southern Luzon.
The state weather bureau said that the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) and Bicol regions, Eastern Visayas, Marinduque, and Romblon will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the shearline.
The northeast monsoon, on the other hand, will bring cloudy skies with light rains to Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mountain Province and Aurora.
The northeast monsoon will likewise bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rain showers to Metro Manila, Ilocos region, the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region and Central Luzon , while the rest of the country will have partly cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
