UN body cites DOT ad as among world’s best

MANILA, Philippines —_ The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has recognized an advertisement produced by the Department of Tourism (DOT) as among the world’s best in promoting sustainable tourism amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are proud that the video produced by the department made it to this prestigious competition,” Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said in a statement on Saturday.

“More importantly, we were able to show how tourism provides jobs and livelihoods while conveying our message of traveling safely,” she said.

The campaign ad, titled “Have A Safe Trip, Pinas,” was adjudged as among the “Exceptional Stories of Sustainable Tourism” in Asia and the Pacific region during the 2021 UNWTO Tourism Video Competition held on Friday.

The 163-second clip featured tourism workers from the world-renowned Boracay Island resort.
