TUGUEGARAO CITY- COVID-19 cases in Cagayan province had dropped to 81 with 20 new recoveries on Friday as local government units relaxed restrictions and allowed more residents to shop in malls and stroll outside their homes, the provincial health office said Saturday.
Only three new cases—one each in the towns of Allacapan, Solana, and Sta. Praxedes—and two deaths, both from Solana, were reported on Friday.
Tuguegarao City has 23 and Baggao has 15 active cases.
As this developed, outreach vaccination had reached towns with low vaccine rollout data aside from walk-ins at the Capitol gymnasium.
Dr. Carlos Cortina III, Cagayan provincial health officer, said they reached Asat village in Aparri, Hacienda Intal village in Baggao, and Parug-parug village in Solana. They also set appointments in Sta. Teresita and Buguey towns. The said towns have 56 to 66-percent vaccine rollout data.
“We have 24 towns which had reached the 70-percent rollout so we have been helping five towns in vaccine rollouts,” he added.
The province has targeted a 70-percent vaccination rollout by yearend, up from the 45-percent data on Friday.
Only Tuguegarao City and Sta. Praxedes had reached the 70-percent rollout of second dose vaccines.
Once the towns and Tuguegarao City reach a 70-percent rollout, the alert level might be reduced to Level 1, he said.
