SAN ANTONIO, Zambales—The town of San Marcelino in this province on Friday, Dec. 10, began administering COVID-19 booster shots to its healthcare workers and senior citizens.

San Marcelino is among the first local governments in the province to give a third dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 to its vulnerable sectors belonging to categories A1 and A2.

Lorenzo Tomboc Jr., 70, of Barangay Nagbunga, was among the senior citizens who received his booster shot on Friday.

The San Marcelino government said the town had a limited supply of vaccines for booster shots so it was prioritizing medical frontliners and senior citizens based on Department of Health guidelines.

Only those who had their second dose of a vaccine six months ago could get the booster shot, municipal health officials said.

The town continues to roll out its COVID-19 vaccination for other sectors that have yet to get their first and second dose of the vaccine.
