Magnitude 4.4 earthquake hits area off waters of Surigao Del Norte

MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.4 earthquake shook an area off the waters of Surigao Del Norte on Thursday night, said the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
According to the Phivolcs, the epicenter of the quake was located 48 kilometers (km) northeast of Burgos, Surigao Del Norte and was recorded at 8:44 p.m.
Phivolcs said that Intensity II in General Luna, Surigao Del Norte, while Intensity I was felt in Surigao City.
State seismologists said that the quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of only 9 km.
No damages and aftershocks, meanwhile, are expected after the said quake.
