Improvised bomb explodes in Sumisip, Basilan – Army
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Zamboanga del Sur — An improvised bomb exploded near a construction site in Sumisip town, Basilan, on Thursday afternoon, the Army said.
Brigadier General Domingo Gobway, commander of Joint Task Force Basilan, said the explosion happened near the national highway and the boundary of Limbo and Candis and Barangay Central at around 3 p.m.
No casualty was reported even as children were reportedly playing near the construction site just before the explosion.
Gobway said the explosion could be motivated by extortion.
