PH posts 562 new COVID-19 cases

MANILA, Philippines — The country’s new COVID-19 cases went up to over 500 again on Thursday, but with a higher number of tests than the previous day.

According to the DOH’s case bulletin, the 562 new COVID-19 cases brought the currently active cases to 12,169.

The DOH reported a positivity rate of 1.6 percent out of 33,295 individuals who got tested last Tuesday. On Wednesday, there were only 370 new cases with a positivity rate of 1.6 percent from 28,942 tests on Monday.

Meanwhile, the health department also posted 882 more recoveries and 176 deaths.

Overall, there are now 2,835,996 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines. Of this number, 2,773,891 are recoveries and 49,936 are deaths.

Of the over 12,000 active cases, 46.7 percent are either mild or asymptomatic. The DOH said there are a total of 851 asymptomatic, 4,838 mild, 3,857 moderate, 2,177 severe, and 446 critical cases.

According to DOH, 14 duplicate cases and 145 cases found to have tested negative were removed from the total case count. Another 157 recoveries were also reclassified as deaths after final validation.

Two testing laboratories were not operational on Tuesday while all labs were able to submit their data.
