Over 1 million doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine arrive in PH

MANILA, Philippines — A total of 1,082,250 doses of US-made Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine were delivered in the Philippines on Wednesday night.

The plane carrying the doses, which were procured by the government, landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 at around 8:30 p.m., according to a livestream of state-run PTV.

As of Dec. 6, the Philippines has received a total of 149 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines, over 54 million of which are CoronaVac vaccines made by China-based Sinovac BioTech.

About 39 million of the doses are Pfizer vaccines, according to the data from the National Task Force against COVID-19.

Over 38 million individuals have so far been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 since the government officially rolled out its inoculation program on March 1.

The country has so far administered about 92.7 million doses.

The government is set to hold another round of its massive national COVID-19 vaccination drive from Dec. 15 to 17, with the aim of administering second doses to seven million individuals.
