Rainy Thursday likely in some parts of PH due to shear line, amihan – Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — The shear line and the northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, may bring rain in some parts of the country on Thursday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Based on Pagasa’s weather forecast issued Wednesday afternoon, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, and the northern portion of Quezon including Polillo Islands will have cold weather with overcast skies and light rains due to the northeast monsoon.

At the same time, Eastern Visayas, Sorsogon, and Masbate including Ticao and Burias Islands will have cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rain showers and thunderstorms due to the shear line, or the convergence of cold and warm winds.

Northern Mindanao, Dinagat Islands, and the rest of Visayas and Bicol Region will also have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the shear line, Pagasa said.
