DOH confirms 370 new COVID-19 cases

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) reported 370 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, a slight increase from Tuesday’s 356 additional cases but with a higher number of tests.

According to the DOH, there are now 12,510 active cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines, out of 2,835,593 confirmed infections since the start of the pandemic.

Of the active cases, 46.8 percent are either mild or asymptomatic. In numbers, 883 patients are asymptomatic, 4,974 are experiencing mild symptoms, 3,916 have moderate infections, 2,261 are under severe status, and 476 are critical.

Meanwhile, the health department also confirmed 861 more recoveries and 171 more deaths. In total, 2,773,322 patients have recovered and 49,761 have died.

The DOH reported a positivity rate of 1.6 percent out of 28,942 individuals who got tested on Monday. This is slightly higher than the 1.4 positivity rate, with fewer than 24,360 tests on Sunday.

According to the health agency, 24 percent of intensive care unit and isolation beds, 13 percent of ward beds, and 14 percent of ventilators are currently being used.

The DOH removed 27 duplicates and 95 cases that were found to have tested negative from the total case count and reclassified 150 recoveries as deaths after final validation.

Two testing laboratories were not operational on Monday and five laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System.
