Sumitomo Corp. apologizes for MRT-3 operations glitch on Tuesday afternoon
MANILA, Philippines — Sumitomo Corporation, the maintenance provider of the Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT-3), apologized on Tuesday for the temporary suspension of the railway’s operation due to a signaling issue.
“We, Sumitomo Corporation, as the maintenance provider of MRT-3, expresses our sincerest apologies for any passenger inconvenience caused by the recent brief suspension of MRT-3 operations due to the signaling trouble that happened earlier today,” the company said in a statement.
Sumitomo said its contractor has already submitted the error data to the system provider for detailed analysis of the incident.
“Rest assured that Sumitomo, together with the MRT-3 Management and our Consultant, shall conduct a thorough investigation to find the cause of the problem, and take all the necessary countermeasures to ensure the safety of MRT-3 operations,” the railway’s maintenance provider added.
MRT-3’s operations were suspended past noontime and were resumed at 12:45 p.m.
