DOH logs 356 new COVID-19 cases, lowest since July 2
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) reported only 356 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, the lowest since July 2, 2020, when 294 additional cases were recorded.
The new cases brought the country’s current count of active COVID-19 infections to 13,026, 0.5 percent of all the 2,835,345 confirmed cases of the disease since the start of the pandemic.
According to DOH, 47 percent of the active cases are either mild or asymptomatic. In numbers, 899 patients are asymptomatic, 5,314 are experiencing mild symptoms, 3,900 have a moderate infection, 2,326 are suffering severe conditions, and 587 are under critical status.
Meanwhile, the DOH also logged 871 new recoveries and 92 more deaths. Overall, a total of 2,772,728 patients have recovered and 49,591 have died.
The positivity rate remains low at 1.4 percent out of 24,360 individuals who got tested for coronavirus on Sunday. However, the number of tests was lower than the 32,634 tests conducted on Saturday, where 1.7 percent of individuals tested positive for the virus.
Hospital utilization also remains low. DOH data showed that 26 percent of intensive care unit beds, 25 percent of isolation beds, 13 percent of ward beds, and 14 percent of ventilators are currently being used.
Article continues after this advertisementThe DOH removed six duplicate recoveries and 159 other cases that were found to have tested negative from the total tally. Eighty-seven recoveries were reclassified as deaths following validation.
