6 of 13 towns in Zambales now COVID-free

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales––The remaining COVID-19 patients in six of the 13 towns of Zambales province have recovered, making these areas free of the viral disease as of Monday, Dec. 6.

Data from the provincial health office show no active cases left in Palauig, Botolan, San Narciso, San Antonio, Palauig, and San Felipe towns.

Eighteen patients were still battling the disease, while only two towns have one new COVID-19 case each, as of Sunday.

Since the pandemic began last year, the province had logged 9,853 COVID-19 cases, with at least 9,614 having recovered, while 604 had died.

A total of 275,644 residents had been vaccinated against the viral disease, of which 150,613 had received two doses and 250 had booster shots.

The province has to inoculate 454,730 (70 percent) of its 649,615-population to achieve herd immunity.
