MANILA, Philippines — With the Christmas season just around the corner, the Department of Health (DOH) on Monday reminded Filipinos to eat and drink in moderation to curb the increasing prevalence of lifestyle-related diseases, such as heart attacks, strokes and diabetes, especially at this time of the year when tables overflow with fat-laden food.
“Eat and drink in moderation,” said Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, saying these are some of the ways to keep one’s health in check without passing up on all the good food during the holidays.
“Balance your food. Avoid eating too much fatty, sweet and salty food. Instead, eat food that are rich in nutrients like fruits and vegetables,” she said.
