MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines is now at minimal risk for COVID-19 while the National Capital Region is at low-risk case classification, the Department of Health (DOH) said on Monday.
“Nationally, we remain at minimal risk case classification with a negative two-week growth rate at negative 57 percent and a low risk average daily attack rate at 0.67 cases per every 100,000 individuals,” Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said in a media forum.
“The national health system’s capacity is at low risk. All regions showed decreasing average daily attack rates compared to the previous three to four weeks and [remained] to be at minimal to low-risk case classification with a negative one- or two-week growth rates,” she added.
According to Vergeire, the country’s total COVID-19 beds and intensive care units utilization are at low risk or less than 50-percent usage.
Meanwhile, the health official noted that Metro Manila is classified as low risk for COVID-19.
“The National Capital Region is currently at low-risk case classification with a negative two-week growth rate and an average daily attack rate of 1.13 per 100,000 population,” she added.
Despite being a minimal risk for COVID-19 nationally, the DOH flagged Eastern Samar and Zamboanga Sibugay over their slight spike in average daily attack rate and positive one-week and two-week growth rates.
