UC starts bid without fajardo, competes in nsbc
LIFE WITHOUT June Mar Fajardo begins today for the two-time Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) champions University of Cebu Webmasters as they compete in the 64th National Students Basketball Championship (NSBC) 2012 in Dagupan City.
The Webmasters flew to Manila yesterday and went straight to Dagupan, where they will compete against different collegiate squads from all over the country.
They will have to do so without the presence of the 6-foot-10 Fajardo, who has exhausted his eligibility and is now playing with the San Miguel Beermen in the Asean Basketball League.
Fajardo, a two-time CESAFI MVP and a PCCL National Collegiate Player of the Year, once led the Webmasters to the NSBC title several years ago.
The annual tournament is being organized by the revitalized Basketball Association of the Philippines.
This tournament also serves as the qualifying tournament for the 9th Asian University Basketball Championship for Men, which will be held this July in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
