CFA booters capture Boys Under-14 title

The Cebu Football Association (CFA) Boys Under 14 topped their category after winning all of its four games in the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Boys U14/Girls U13 Regional Festival of Football, which ended yesterday in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

The team, beefed up by Cebuano members of the Little Azkals—Philippine Boys U14 national team, edged Negros Occidental Football Association (NOFA), 1-0; routed Iloilo Football Association (IFA), 3-0; blanked Negros Oriental Football Association (NORFA), 2-0; and capped its campaign with a 9-0 demolition of the Leyte Football Association (LFA).

Little Azkals head coach Oliver “BingBing” Colina allowed his boys to play for their mother teams in the San Carlos festival.

The Little Azkals who played for CFA were Major Dean Ebarle, Kintaro Miyagi, Moiselle Angelo Alforque, Lawrence Colina and Vincent Lovitos.

Other members of the team were Kenry Balobo, Jessie Riel Semblante, Jullian Homecillo, Paul David Carizon, Charles Robert Bayot, Joeben Benedict Cuadra, Marc Villordon, Erich Rafael Orale, Lendon Colina, Glen Thomas Ramos, Joshua Famador, Bertram Musni, John Joseph Rena, Angelo Christian Ouano, Agustin Rafael Roa, Jose Mari Kwan and Jake Ramos.

The team’s head coach was Eduardo Perez Jr., while assisting him was Restituto “Totot” Colina Jr.

CFA’s Girls U13 squad coached by Marlou Solon with the assistance of Claudith Zapanta, was not as lucky as the boys team but came home with 1 win, 1 draw and 2 loses against NOFA.

CFA and NOFA were the only teams who showed up for the Girls U13 festival so they had to play against each other four times.

In the first game NOFA edged CFA, 2-1, but it was CFA’s turn to squeak past NOFA in the second game also at 2-1.

NOFA lambasted CFA in the third game, 4-1, while CFA managed to end the fourth match in a 1-all draw.

No champions were declared as the tournament’s sole purpose was for talent identification for the national boys U14 and girls U13, who will be competing in Asian Football Confederation football festivals this year.
