MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 6.1 earthquake struck off Sarangani Island in Davao Occidental Sunday morning.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the earthquake was recorded at 7:48 a.m. with its epicenter traced some 285 kilometers east of Sarangani Island.
The earthquake, which is tectonic in origin, had a depth of 156 kilometers.

It was felt at Intensity II in Cateel, Davao Oriental.
No damage to infrastructure is expected, but aftershocks are possible, Phivolcs added.
